Hello and welcome!

My name is Timothy Latz aka The Nightowl and I started djing in the late 1980s in the Bay Area of San Francisco.

Years ago, I helped to promote LGBTQ parties for the University of California Berkeley before helping to open the Thunder Bay nightclub which was the first big queer club venue in the East Bay located in Berkeley. Moving to San Francisco, I got involved in djing after hours parties in San Francisco.

Hundreds of events and a few years later living in New York City, Seattle, Los Angeles, Portland, Montreal and Provincetown Massachusetts , I headed to Philadelphia.

Since moving to Philadelphia about 7 years ago I’ve djed on Saturday nights at the local bathhouse, providing a soundtrack for the evenings as well as different events and venues around the city.

After the end of the COVID pandemic, I started co-producing the Porkroll Party after the end of the COVID pandemic, where I have been a resident dj, playing a mix of club classics, disco, and other ephemeral tunes in the front room of our venue.

I’m not a top 40 pop dj, I’ll be the first to admit it. I don’t do weddings and bar mitvahs, where you basically take requests from Aunt Louise and Uncle Bob or cousin Phil who wants to hear that Mariah Carey remix from 2001.

I’m more interested in exposing audiences to the millions of interesting tracks and sounds that can range anywhere from the 1960’s to future forward underground house, soul, cosmic disco and or polka. =) There’s literally millions of good music tracks out there. My goal with every set that I play is to enlighten, inform and show audiences that music IS the answer.

Music for the head, body and soles…. xoxo
